Trees and Bees Yoga holds children yoga classes for children ages 3-9 at the Whatcom Family Village every Monday and Thursday from 3:30-4:30.

About Trees & Bees Yoga

Trees and Bees Yoga was born from the desire to help children become happier and more emotionally balanced through yoga. Stress and anxiety are becoming more and more common for children to deal with, and can negatively impact not only every area of the child’s life, but of the whole family’s lives. By engaging in fun yoga games and relaxing breathing exercises, I believe children can learn to calm their bodies and control their emotions, leading to a happier child and a happier family.

About The Teacher

Jessica Snyder

I have spent most of the last 15 years working with and teaching children of all ages. While teaching 3-5 year olds, I realized that the yoga I used in my everyday life to help manage stress was also effective in helping children learn to better manage their bodies and emotions - and they had so much fun! After receiving my bachelors degree in elementary education and my masters degree in child developmental psychology, I became a certified yoga teacher in 2024 in order to deepen my understanding of yoga and its practices.

I started Trees and Bees Yoga to help children connect to their bodies and better regulate their emotions. My goal is that by regularly partaking in the practices of yoga with its movement and focus on breath, children can feel happier and more confident in handling their emotions.

FAQs

  • Nothing is needed to join our classes except a positive attitude (and even that we can often get by without). Water bottles are always welcome, and special stuffies of a reasonable size are also welcome (just check with the instructor first to be sure). For children who like to wear skirts, please also wear shorts or bloomers underneath to allow for full range of movement.

  • Sign up in advance to secure your spot or stop by and drop into class day-of (limited spaces available).

  • All children must have a guardian on site at all times while participating in Trees & Bees classes. However, guardians do not need to stay in the class with the children, and are welcome to enjoy the couches and kitchenette provided in the Whatcom Family Village lobby.

  • While Trees & Bees classes are for children only, parents are always welcome to sit along the side and watch. However, most children do end up being more engaged in the class and having more fun if the parent waits outside in the lobby.
